(South Bend, IN) - No. 5 Notre Dame has secured a spot in the College Football Playoff after a thrilling 33-31 victory over No. 7 Clemson in the ACC Championship Game.

Notre Dame jumped out to a commanding 21-0 lead in the first half, with quarterback Drew Pyne connecting with receiver Lorenzo Styles for two touchdowns. The Fighting Irish defense also forced two Clemson turnovers, including a key interception by cornerback Brandon Joseph.

Clemson fought back gamely in the second half, cutting the lead to 21-14 with a pair of touchdowns. However, Notre Dame answered with an impressive drive that resulted in a field goal by Chris Tyree.

With time running out, Clemson had a chance to tie the game with a field goal. However, Notre Dame's Tariq Bracy blocked the attempt, preserving the Irish's lead.

Notre Dame's victory guarantees them a spot in the College Football Playoff. They will join No. 1 Georgia, No. 2 Michigan, and No. 3 TCU in the semifinals.

Notre Dame will face No. 2 Michigan in the Fiesta Bowl on December 31st. The winner of that game will advance to the College Football Playoff National Championship on January 9th.
