It's been a year since Moana star Auli'i Cravalho came out as bisexual, and she's reflecting on the journey she's been on since then.

In an interview with People, Cravalho opened up about the challenges and rewards of coming out, and how it's changed her life for the better.

Overcoming Fear and Embracing Authenticity

"It was a lot of fear at first," Cravalho admits. "I was afraid of what people would think, and I was afraid of the way it would affect my career." But ultimately, she decided that she couldn't live her life in fear anymore.

"I've learned that coming out is a process," she says. "It's not something that you do just once, and it's not something that you do for the sake of other people. It's something that you do for yourself because you have to, and because you're ready."

Finding Support and Acceptance

Cravalho is grateful for the support she's received from her family, friends, and fans since coming out. "I've been so lucky to have such an amazing support system," she says. "They've shown me that who I am is enough, and that I don't have to change anything."

She's also found a community of other LGBTQ+ people who are going through similar experiences.

Since coming out, Cravalho has used her platform to speak out for LGBTQ+ rights and visibility. She's participated in Pride events and spoken out against anti-LGBTQ+ laws.

"I want to use my voice to make a difference," she says. "I want to help create a world where everyone feels safe and accepted, no matter who they love."

Advice for Others Considering Coming Out

For those who are considering coming out, Cravalho has this advice:

• Do it for yourself, not for anyone else.
• Be prepared for challenges, but also for the love and support that will come your way.
• Find a community of people who will support you on your journey.
• Most importantly, never give up on yourself.
