Penguins 5, Canucks 4: Falling Behind, Chasing A Game Beats You Down
PITTSBURGH, Pa.—The Pittsburgh Penguins won their fourth consecutive game and stretched their point streak to five as they beat the Vancouver Canucks 5-4 at PPG Paints Arena on Monday night.
Slow Start
The Penguins fell behind 2-0 in the first period, but they battled back to tie it at 2-2 in the second period.
"We knew it was going to be a tough game," said Penguins captain Sidney Crosby. "They're a good team, and they're fighting for a playoff spot."
The Canucks would again take the lead before the period ended, but the Penguins would once again tie it up in the third period.
Power Play Struggles
The Penguins had a number of power play opportunities on Monday night, but they were unable to convert any of them.
"We need to do a better job on the power play," said Penguins coach Mike Sullivan. "We had some good chances, but we didn't capitalize."
Resiliency
The Penguins showed a lot of resiliency on Monday night, as they were able to come back from behind twice to win the game.
"We never gave up," said Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin. "We kept fighting, and we found a way to win."
The Penguins will look to continue their winning ways when they host the Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday night.
