LA Galaxy On Historic Pace In MLS Cup Chase: "It's Everything"

LA Galaxy’s Riqui Puig, Gaston Brugman named to MLS Team of the Week

The LA Galaxy are on the cusp of making history as they pursue their fifth MLS Cup title. The team has enjoyed a remarkable regular season, sitting atop the Western Conference standings and on pace to set numerous records.

With just four regular season games remaining, the Galaxy have amassed a league-leading 65 points. That total is just five points shy of the all-time MLS record set by the 2019 Atlanta United. The Galaxy also boast the league's best goal differential (+33) and have lost just four games all season.

Several key factors have contributed to the Galaxy's success this year. Star midfielder Riqui Puig has been unstoppable, leading the league in assists (20) and creating numerous chances for his teammates. Forward Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez has also been in fine form, scoring 17 goals and providing seven assists.

"It's everything," said Galaxy head coach Greg Vanney. "It's the quality of the players, the chemistry, the work ethic. It's a special group."

The Galaxy's defense has also been impressive, allowing only 24 goals all season. Goalkeeper Jonathan Bond has kept 13 clean sheets, the most in the league.

"We have a lot of experience and leadership at the back," said defender Daniel Steres. "We're all on the same page and know our roles."

With the regular season winding down, the Galaxy have their sights set on the playoffs. As the top seed in the West, they will secure a first-round bye and home-field advantage throughout the tournament.

"We're not taking anything for granted," said Vanney. "We have to finish strong and be ready for the playoffs. But we're confident that we have what it takes to win the MLS Cup."

With their historic regular season performance, expectations are sky-high for the Galaxy. Fans are eager to see the team bring home their fifth MLS title and cement their place among the league's elite.

"We know we're a special team," said Chicharito. "We're ready to make history."
