Haynes sustained the injury on a tackle after a 7-yard run in the first quarter. He immediately grabbed his left knee and limped off the field. Team officials have not yet disclosed the severity of the injury, but Haynes was seen leaving the stadium on crutches.

Haynes is a sophomore running back who has emerged as a key player for Georgia Tech this season. Through five games, he has rushed for 376 yards and two touchdowns, leading the Yellow Jackets in both categories. His absence will be a significant blow to the team's offense.

Haynes' injury forced Georgia Tech to rely more heavily on backup running backs Dontae Smith and Tony Amerson. However, Miami's defense capitalized on the loss, limiting the Yellow Jackets to just 22 rushing yards in the remainder of the first half.

Georgia Tech head coach Geoff Collins commented on Haynes' injury after the game, saying, "Obviously, losing Jamal is a big blow. He's been playing really well for us. We'll have to see how severe the injury is, but we're hoping for the best."

The severity of Haynes' injury will determine his prognosis and the timeline for his return. Georgia Tech's next game is on October 8th against Pitt. If Haynes is unable to play, the Yellow Jackets will face a difficult challenge without their leading rusher.
